American football's Canadian Football League (CFL) has announced FanDuel as its first authorized gaming operator and sportsbook partner.

As part of the deal, the US-based fantasy sports firm will offer betting options for CFL fans, including markets on a variety of in-game player actions, such as anytime touchdown scorer, passing, rushing, and receiving yardage.

Fans will also be able to wager on various future bets, including the winners of the 110th Grey Cup on November 19.

The CFL recently implemented a Match Manipulation Policy to help safeguard the integrity of the league and protect against threats of match or competition manipulation.

Last month, the CFL and international sports data technology company Genius Sports launched a new data collection system, with the aim of capturing official play-by-play data of every CFL game to power the league’s betting solutions and augmented broadcasts, as well as provide insights for fans.

Tyler Mazereeuw, the chief commercial officer of the CFL, has now said: “Responsible sports wagering is another way for our league to further its connection with our fans. In addition to taking in our fun, fast, and entertaining brand of football, some fans may wish to engage with the game on a more personal level.

“We’re excited to work with FanDuel to deliver an exciting and innovative betting experience. While opening this new avenue of fandom is important to our league, wagering should only be done responsibly by adult fans who are 19 years of age and over with the means to do so.”

Dale Hooper, general manager of FanDuel Canada, added: “We look forward to working with the CFL and [domestic broadcast rightsholder] TSN to continue to drive interest in the league by contributing insights that add another element to the great storytelling that is taking place.”
