IOC’s Olympic Games Executive Director Enthusiastic about Beijing’s Impact on Olympic Values

In an interview given to the Olympic Capital Quarterly, the head of the IOC Olympic Games department Gilbert Felli says that one of the greatest achievements of the Beijing 2008 Olympics has been the positive impact on 400 million children in China.

“Hosting the Olympic Games in the world’s most populated country is one of the greatest benefits for the Olympic Movement. The ambitious culture and education programme organised around the Games will be one of the strongest legacies from Beijing 2008”, he said.

Additionally, the main story of this new edition of the Olympic Capital Quarterly takes a look at the growing danger of change in sporting nationality that could end up, as author Yann Hafner puts it, as a new “Bosman case”. In his article, Hafner proposes that “an international conference on sporting nationality should be called in order that global reflection on this matter takes place.”

You will find these articles in the latest edition of the Olympic Capital Quarterly, the newsletter edited by the City of Lausanne and the State of Vaud, Switzerland.
