Diageo Is Title Sponsor of Golf’s Scottish PGA Championship
The Gleneagles Hotel, Perthshire, is delighted to announce that its parent company, Diageo, is to become title sponsor of the Scottish PGA Championship.
The Diageo Scottish PGA Championship at Gleneagles, won last year by Paul Casey, will be held on August 22-25, 2002 on The PGA Centenary Course, venue of The 2014 Ryder Cup Matches. A field of 156 of the top European professionals will compete for a share of the Championship’s £1 million prize fund.
Nick Rose, Diageo’s Chief Finance Officer, said: ‘We are pleased that, once again, the Diageo and the Gleneagles’ names will be linked with a world-class golfing event. Over the past ten years, as a global company, Diageo has invested millions of pounds in golf development and tournaments. We look forward to hosting a successful spectacle of outstanding championship golf in August and welcoming golf enthusiasts back to Scotland’s Ryder Cup venue.’
Ken Schofield, Executive Director of The European Tour, said: ‘The support of the massive presence of Diageo in returning to the home-base of The European Tour is most timely and extremely welcome.
‘Gleneagles Hotel and the Scottish PGA Championship has again become synonymous with the very best in tournament golf and Diageo’s support will enhance the event and the Tour.’
