1999/2000 UEFA CUP FIRST ROUND DRAW.
27/08/99: Today in Monaco the draw was held for the newly enlarged UEFA Cup. The complex draw system has divided the competition’s 96 teams into specific geographic groupings, in order to ease the considerable difficulties inherent in such a massive competition.
Today’s draw has also revealed the fixtures for the home and away legs of the UEFA Cup first round which takes place on September 14th-16th and 28th-30th 1999.
Today’s draw was held ahead of the 1999 UEFA Super Cup Match (Manchester United V Lazio) which takes place tonight at Monaco’s Stade Louis II.
This draw and tonight’s match brings to a conclusion UEFA’s two day Draw Procedure for its two main European competitions, following yesterdays Champions League procedings.
