Last weekend, the Danish Basketball Federation hosted the FIBA 3×3 Europe Cup Qualifier in Copenhagen. Despite challenging weather conditions, the organisers successfully moved Saturday's games indoors, ensuring a smooth event.

Although the Danish teams did not advance to the European Championship in Vienna, they look forward to competing on home soil next year, where they are guaranteed a spot.

Maria Jespersen, captain of the women's national team, said, “A huge thanks to our federation, and partners for organising this event. The atmosphere was fantastic, and I hope it inspires more people to play 3×3. Despite the narrow losses, I'm proud of our performance and look forward to giving Denmark a victory at the FIBA EUROPE CUP 2025.”

Alex Sanchez, 3×3 Managing Director at FIBA, remarked, “FIBA eagerly anticipates Europe Cup 2025 in Copenhagen, a milestone event for the sport. Over the weekend, the Danish Basketball Federation, the host city and Sport Event Denmark demonstrated exceptional organizational skills by staging a highly successful Europe Cup qualifier”

Jesper W. Sørensen, CEO of the Danish Basketball Federation, added, “This weekend was a valuable test for our setup ahead of next year's event. The packed stands and lively atmosphere underlined the growing popularity of 3×3 basketball. Thanks to our dedicated event team from GAME and DBBF, we are excited to continue our preparations with the City of Copenhagen and Sport Event Denmark.”

"A qualifying tournament the year before a championship always provides a great opportunity to test the setup and prepare an event organization. This weekend confirmed that 3×3 basketball is highly entertaining. The many spectators highlight the potential for even more growth in both the sport and its side events. 3×3 basketball is perfect for a street festival atmosphere, which is why, in collaboration with the Danish Basketball Federation and the City of Copenhagen, we are already working to create the best possible setting for next year’s FIBA 3×3 EUROPE CUP. This year's tournament was an important step," says Lars Lundov, CEO of Sport Event Denmark
