The WWE wrestling promotion has appointed Catherine Newman as executive vice president and head of marketing.
She joins WWE from English Premier League soccer giants Manchester United where she served as chief marketing officer for the past two years.
As part of WWE’s senior leadership team, Newman will be responsible for marketing, brand, community relations, entertainment relations, creative services, and photography.
She has more than two decades of executive experience having previously held senior marketing positions at The Times newspaper in the UK and the Financial Times.
Newman has been appointed to the role during a period when Stephanie McMahon, WWE’s chief brand officer, has taken a leave of absence.
McMahon, the daughter of WWE chairman and chief executive Vince, recently announced that she is temporarily stepping away from “the majority of [her] responsibilities” with WWE and taking time away to focus on her family.
