Major League Baseball has named experienced industry executive Karin Timpone as its new chief marketing officer.
Reporting to MLB chief operations and strategy officer Chris Marinak, Timpone will lead the league’s global marketing efforts and collaborate with executives across all revenue, product and operations units, as well as the 30 MLB teams.
She will also oversee the MLB events and design services departments.
Timpone is MLB’s first CMO since 2016, when Jacqueline Parkes left the role to join ViacomCBS.
Timpone is a veteran marketing executive who previously held notable roles with US media and entertainment giant Walt Disney, web services provider Yahoo, and Marriott International, the hotel chain.
She spent three years as head of marketing and head of consumer and customer innovation for Yahoo’s media properties before joining Walt Disney in 2008 as senior vice-president of digital media.
