IMG, the sports and entertainment heavyweight, has today unveiled Karen Matijak as senior vice president of business operations and transformation for the On Location sports-focused hospitality firm and IMG’s events division.
Matijak will be responsible for “driving strategic and transformation initiatives” for those businesses and the events they own, produce, and partner with. She will report to Paul Caine and Jon Lavallee, president and chief operations officer at On Location and the IMG event division respectively.
Her remit in terms of On Location’s sporting events will include properties such as American football’s Super Bowl, and the Olympic and Paralympic Games. In addition, she will attend the numerous events that IMG produces for its clients.
IMG has said Matijak joins “with more than 20 years’ experience in leading and executing large-scale, global, cross-enterprise programs.”
Previous roles include global vice president of professional services at HERE Technologies, a location and mapping platform firm.
Endeavor, the media and entertainment giant that controls IMG and On Location, combined the hospitality firm and IMG’s events division in a merger last June.

Speaking to GlobalData recently, Will Whiston, executive vice president of Olympics & Paralympics at On Location, called its stewardship of the Olympic hospitality provision rights a “watershed moment” for the games.
Last month, meanwhile, On Location renewed its partnership with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), the governing body of college athletics in the US.
Endeavor now claims On Location is an official service provider to over 150 rightsholders.
The firm completed the acquisition of a majority stake in On Location at the start of 2020, in a deal worth about $660 million.
