UEFA takes club competition media rights tender to Albania

The tender process covering rights in that market to the top-tier UEFA Champions League opened on November 7.

Albania is the latest territory in which European soccer’s governing body UEFA has taken media rights covering its next men’s club competitions cycle to market.

Earlier this week (November 7), UEFA initiated the tender process in that Balkan market for broadcast rights covering the 2024-27 cycle of its top-tier Champions League, second-tier Europa League, and third-tier Europa Conference League (to be renamed the Conference League from 2024-25).

The sales are being handled by Team Marketing, UEFA’s partner agency for media and commercial rights sales across its club competitions. All inquiries should, therefore, be directed to info@team.ch, with a deadline for submissions of December 4.

During the current 2021-22 to 2023-24 cycle, UCL games are covered live in Albania by a combination of pay-TV's Tring TV and public-service broadcaster RTSH.

Pay-TV’s Digitalb, meanwhile, holds Europa League and Europa Conference League rights through the end of this season.

The three-season media rights process in Albania comes after UEFA took the same rights to market in neighboring Greece late last month.

Contracts have already been signed across the continent in major markets such as the UK, France, the Netherlands, Germany, Italy, and Switzerland.

In total, tenders have gone live in 30 European territories.

Meanwhile, Australia and the US are among the markets where deals have been agreed outside of Europe.

From the 2024-25 season, the UCL will take on a new single-league format, with the competition expanding from 32 to 36 teams, and incorporating 189 matches instead of the current 125.

Across all three competitions this season, no Albanian teams are taking part in pan-European UEFA action.
