MotoGP, the top-tier global motorcycling series, has appointed former Channel 4 and Sky executive Vince Russell as its new chief financial officer.

Russell joins the organization with immediate effect, having most recently served as CFO of UK commercial broadcaster Channel 4 between 2018 and 2024, where he played a major role in driving financial performance while also leading the modernization across the organization.

Before Channel 4, he spent 15 years at UK pay-TV giant Sky in senior finance leadership positions during a significant growth period for the company.

Carmelo Ezpelta, chief executive of MotoGP Sports Entertainment Group, said: “We are very pleased to welcome Vince to MotoGP at such an important moment for the business.

“As we continue to develop and grow as a global sports and entertainment platform, his experience across leading international media and technology organizations, combined with his track record of driving transformation and financial performance, will be invaluable to the next phase of our development.”

The announcement comes at an important moment for MotoGP as it continues to shuffle its staff at promoter Dorna since its €4.2 billion ($4.9 billion) acquisition by Liberty Media in July 2025.

Since then, Liberty's takeover has also resulted in several significant personnel changes at Dorna, including Chase Carey (former head of the F1 Group) coming in as the new president, replacing the previous incumbent, William Jackson.

The most recent change was the departure of chief commercial officer, Dan Rossomondo departing in January after close to three years at the head of Dorna’s commercial business.

A hiring search for Rossomondo’s replacement is still underway at Dorna, and Rossomondo himself remains on hand to provide strategic guidance to chief executive Carmelo Ezpeleta and the management team throughout the transition period.

In February, Dorna announced a restructure of its commercial team, with the appointment of Borja de Altolaguirre as the new head of sponsorships.

Marc Saurina, who has been global head of commercial partnerships for Dorna Sports since May 2021, will now refocus his efforts on the WorldSBK category, which Dorna also promotes.

Elsewhere, Daniel Ruiz has stepped into a new role as the head of Dorna’s hospitality and licensing division.
