Several last-minute broadcast deals were secured for the Winter Olympics - across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), sub-Saharan Africa, the Indian sub-continent, and the Caribbean - in the hours building up to the start of the major event in Milano Cortina on Friday (February 6).

In the MENA region, the games are being shown by TOD, the sports streaming platform operated by pay-TV giant BeIN Sports.

TOD’s coverage will include live broadcasts, highlights, analysis, and on-demand replays.

The platform said its coverage will include both headline competitions and lesser-known events.

Meanwhile, in sub-Saharan Africa, the Winter Olympics will be shown by pay-TV operator StarTimes.

Jiostar, the heavyweight Indian media and entertainment group, has secured rights in the Indian sub-continent, while coverage in the Caribbean will be provided by pay-TV network Rush Sports.

Going into the start of the games, the IOC had not secured deals in these key regions, with many fearing a blackout of the event’s early stages in those territories.

The eleventh-hour agreements mean the 2026 Winter Olympics will enjoy widespread global coverage, with the games concluding on February 22.

The Winter Paralympic Games will then run in the same location between March 6 and 15.
