Sports and entertainment giant IMG has announced two new senior hires for its Asia-Pacific (APAC) team, with Carlo Nohra and Phil Mooney tasked with accelerating business development in the region.

IMG’s APAC team, which is spread across 15 key markets, works with leagues and federations in the region to offer advisory, commercial, digital, production, and event management solutions.

As IMG’s vice president of football in the region, Nohra will lead the company's soccer strategy and operations, overseeing client relationships and working with leagues, clubs, federations, and stakeholders on governance, commercial growth, media strategy, and long-term development.

He will be based in Singapore and joins after serving as chief operating officer at the top-tier Saudi Pro League, having overseen the growth of the league internationally.

Before that, he held senior leadership positions, including assistant general secretary of the Asian Football Confederation and vice president and general manager of wrestling’s WWE in MENA and APAC.

Mooney, meanwhile, has been appointed as vice president of strategy and is IMG’s first dedicated strategy hire in the region.

Based in Melbourne, Australia, he will be responsible for leading strategic advisory services for IMG’s partners across APAC. Specifically, delivering practical execution plans across rights, content, and partnerships.

Mooney joins from media heavyweight Paramount/Network 10, where he led international strategy initiatives across APAC. Before that, he held roles at consultancy firms PwC and EY, gaining experience in strategy, commercial transactions, media rights, M&A, and business transformation.

IMG has an extensive client list of 250 federations, associations, events, and teams including American football’s NFL, soccer’s English Premier League and MLS, the International Olympic Committee, ice hockey’s NHL, the men’s ATP and women’s WTA tennis tours, the Wimbledon grand slam, Euroleague Basketball, and golf’s DP World Tour, as well as combat sports UFC and WWE.
