Cupra, a brand of Spanish car maker Seat, has renewed as an official sponsor of soccer giants Barcelona in a five-season extension.

The carmaker will continue as the LaLiga club's official automotive and mobility partner and official car through to 2029, while also expanding its connection to the club's other professional sports teams. The partnership first began in 2019.

As part of the deal, the Cupra logo will be present on the right sleeve of the men's and women's soccer teams' shirts in the 2024, 2025, and 2026 editions of the Summer Tour, as well as in international friendlies for the next three seasons.

The brand also maintains its role as a global partner and will be present as one of the official sponsors in the upcoming Espai Barça sports campus.

In addition to maintaining its relationship with the senior men's and women's soccer teams, Cupra will also become the official sponsor of the FC Barcelona basketball, futsal, handball, and roller hockey teams until June 2029.

The company will, in addition, be the main partner of one of the international Barça Academies, which will involve the presence of Cupra in the name and branding of the facilities.

President of FC Barcelona, Joan Laporta, said: "We are very happy to extend our agreement with Cupra until 2029 and expand it to all professional sports at FC Barcelona.”

Chief executive of Cupra, Wayne Griffiths, added: "The renewal of our global partnership means we can continue challenging the status quo on the pitch and on the road, and reinforce our ambition to make Cupra a truly global Spanish brand.”

Earlier this week Cupra renewed its partnership with Football Australia, the national soccer governing body.

Cupra first partnered with Football Australia in 2022, the same time as the company’s entry into the Australian market.

Cupra also recently became a global partner to sailing’s prestigious America’s Cup taking place in the Spanish city next year.

Barcelona, meanwhile, must pay close to $25 million in personal income tax payments after a ruling by the national court of Spain last month.
