F1 renews ServusTV deal in Austria; FIA posts strong 2025 operating profit

ServusTV will continue to showcase F1 coverage across its range of platforms through the 2029 campaign.

Motor racing’s elite Formula 1 (F1) series has extended its free-to-air broadcast partnership in the Austrian market with network ServusTV ahead of this weekend’s Austrian Grand Prix.

This new deal will see ServusTV continue to showcase F1 coverage across its range of platforms, including its titular linear channel and the ServusTV On OTT platform.

ServusTV has showcased F1 action since 2020, a deal last renewed in 2023, and this new agreement will run through the end of the 2029 campaign.

Of particular interest to ServusTV is, of course, the Austrian Grand Prix, held annually at the Red Bull Ring circuit, which will remain in F1 through 2041 as part of a long-term hosting agreement struck in June 2025.

Meanwhile, the FIA motorsport governing body announced one of its strongest sets of financial results ever, headlined by an operating profit of €6.7 million ($7.6 million).

Powered by operating revenue of €191.7 million, the figure, which covers the 2025 calendar year, is the highest such profit for the body since 2016, and reflects a 43% year-on-year increase on the 2024 financial results.

This marks the latest step in the commercial turnaround for the FIA, which points to the 2021 fiscal results when the body made an operating loss of €24 million, as a marker of how far it has come commercially.

In particular, the body points to the addition of a new promoter for the FIA World Rally Championship, increased commercial performance at the FIA World Endurance Championship, and, in particular, the Formula E series and a new long-term promotional agreement, as key drivers of this year’s profit growth.

Indeed, the body said that the promotional contract extension with Formula E delivered €20 million of additional value.

This was supported by a new global partnership program that attracted the support of brands such as DHL, Rolex, Hankook, and AlphaTauri.

Speaking on the financial results, FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem said: “Six months into my second term as FIA president, I remain committed to ensuring a profitable and financially sustainable operation.

“Today, I am proud that we have continued to deliver on this mission, achieving the FIA’s strongest operating result in 10 years and building on the significant progress made since 2021. Improving the governance, transparency, and financial health of the FIA was central to my manifesto pledge, and we have transformed the organization into a more resilient and professional federation.

“I will continue to work closely with all stakeholders to drive positive change across the FIA and deliver long-term value for our member clubs, championships, people, and global mobility and motor sport communities.”

This week, Ben Sulayem’s proposed reform to scrap term limits for the FIA president role passed with 90% approval, meaning he may stay in the role longer than the previous 12-year limit.
