DAZN lands Spanish-language UCL rights in US through TelevisaUnivision

Global sports streaming service DAZN has secured Spanish-language rights for European soccer’s elite UEFA Champions League club competition in the United States through a sublicensing agreement with media giant TelevisaUnivision.

Through the deal, DAZN will exclusively stream 38 Champions League games while sharing rights to two quarter-final matches, both semi-finals, and the final, with the Spanish-language TV channel.

The deal will run through the term of TelevisaUnivision’s current agreement - a three-year deal that expires after the 2026-27 season.

TelevisaUnivision was previously airing select Champions League matches on its three linear channels, Univision, UniMas, and TUDN, while streaming other matches on its Vix+ service.

Vix+ will now carry fewer exclusive Champions League matches under the sublicense deal.

The media conglomerate has held Spanish-language rights to the Champions League in the US since 2018.

English-language rights to the major club competition, meanwhile, are held in the US by major national broadcast network Paramount Global until the end of the 2029-2030 campaign.

The initial qualifying rounds for the 2025-26 UCL get underway in early July.

The Champions League deal represents the second tie-up between DAZN and TelevisaUnivision in recent months, after the latter agreed to sublicense FIFA Club World Cup matches from DAZN.

Under the terms of that agreement, 18 matches of the tournament, currently taking place in the US, will be shown across Univision, UniMás, and TUDN.

The pair are also jointly producing co-branded studio shows and collaborating on promotional and marketing strategies around the Club World Cup.

DAZN acquired exclusive global rights to that competition in December in a deal reportedly worth around $1 billion.
