Tennis Channel, the US network dedicated to the sport, has expanded into the UK after it announced the launch of its global streaming service in the country.

The Tennis Channel International streaming platform officially launched in the UK yesterday and follows on from a roll out in Germany, Austria and Switzerland in April 2020, and Greece earlier this year.

The service features a 24-hour streamed programming channel and will be the first UK TV platform dedicated exclusively to tennis.

Tennis Channel International is available in the UK via tennischannel.com and a dedicated app on iOS and Android mobile devices and tablets as well as on Roku, FireTV and select smart TVs for £2.49 per month ($3.46).

Content includes original Tennis Channel series, documentaries, features, instruction, highlights and select matches on-demand.

Tennis Channel International will also cover live competition from UK events, starting with the upcoming UK Pro League, as well as the LTA National League Finals.

Users in the country will also be able to follow matches worldwide through MatchCast, the scoring and data platform.

Ken Solomon, president of Tennis Channel, said: “With simultaneous daily tournaments worldwide, at all hours, the sheer volume of coverage and broad-based demand for tennis requires 24-hour, territory-specific, TV-and-digital platforms devoted exclusively to the sport.

“We’ve proven that it works in the US, creating enormous value increases for all stakeholders and media partners, and our initial international launches in Germany, Austria and Switzerland have well exceeded expectations.”

In May, Tennis Channel appointed Deltatre, the international sports media technology services company, to revamp its digital platforms.

The revamped Tennis.com is claimed to be the world’s most trafficked tennis website.
