Continental club competitions run by UEFA will feature in the major video game title Football Manager for the first time through a licensing agreement between its developer Sports Interactive and European soccer's governing body.
The deal, announced today (September 12), will bring the top-tier Champions League, second-tier Europa League, and third-tier Europa Conference League to the 2023 edition of the game, which will be released on November 8.
The Women’s Champions League is also included in the licensing agreement and will feature in a future version of the game, although not the 2023 edition.
Described as “the world’s leading football management simulation series,” the new Football Manager release will be available on the PlayStation console for the first time, as well as on PCs and Macs.
Miles Jacobson, Sports Interactive’s studio director, said: “Football Manager 2023 marks another significant step forward for the Football Manager series as we introduce the UEFA club competitions and bring the game to PlayStation 5.
“Adding these historic competitions is an ideal fit for all parties involved and will add another dynamic and challenging element for fans that makes this year’s edition the most realistic football management simulation available.”
