Sportec Solutions, the joint venture between the German Football League (DFL) and leading technology provider Deltatre, has extended its partnership with German soccer’s governing body, the DFB.

Through this expansion of the existing tie-up between Sportec and the DFB, the venture has now been appointed as the official data service provider for the women’s top-tier Frauen-Bundesliga competition, as well as for the men’s 3. Liga division.

In total, the expansion means Sportec is covering an extra 512 games per season from the start of 2023-24. These fixtures will be analyzed from Sportec's data solutions center in Munich.

The existing partnership between the DFB and Sportec already covers the men’s and women's national teams, the national youth sides, and the men's DFB Cup.

Christian Holzer, Sportes Solutions’ managing director, has said: “We are very proud to extend our partnership with the DFB and to be able to capture and refine the official match data of the 3. Liga and the Frauen-Bundesliga. We are convinced that our technology will help to further advance the development of both leagues, benefiting fans, players, coaches, and analysts.”

Manuel Hartmann, the DFB’s managing director of match operations, added: “The deepened cooperation with Sportec Solutions will result in a significant upgrade of both the Frauen-Bundesliga and the 3. Liga. The wider availability of comprehensive data for all participating clubs from the coming season paves the way for general professionalization.

As well as its deal with the DFB, Sportec also has a partnership in place with the DFL through which it provides match data services for all Bundesliga games.

Sportec Solutions was founded in 2016 as a subsidiary of the DFL’s broadcast arm Sportcast and as a joint venture with Deltatre, which invested in a 25% stake at the time. In November 2020, Deltatre acquired a majority 51% shareholding in Sportec Solutions.

Since 2017, it has handled the collection, administration, quality management, and provision of official match data from the Bundesliga and 2.Bundesliga.

Last March, meanwhile, Sportec acquired a majority share in Vieww, the German provider of goal-line technology and video assistant referee systems.

Deltatre, meanwhile, is also the digital services and over-the-top streaming provider of other major leagues including Major League Soccer, Major League Baseball, and NFL Game Pass.
