The International Hockey Federation (FIH) has today (July 21) announced that Poland and Spain will host the second edition of the FIH Hockey Nations Cup in 2024.

Gniezno in Poland will stage the men’s event, while the women’s edition will be held in Spain, with the city yet to be determined.

The men’s tournament will feature Poland, Korea, Malaysia, France, South Africa, Pakistan, Canada, Austria, and – as the team relegated from the 2022-23 FIH Hockey Pro League season – New Zealand.

The Nations Cup winners will join the top-tier Pro League in the 2024-25 campaign.

The first Hockey Nations Cup in 2022 was played with eight teams but will feature nine next year as the Polish side did not qualify based on their FIH world ranking.

The men’s tournament will run from May 31 to June 9, 2024, while the women’s edition will be played from June 3 to 9.

The women’s competition will feature Spain, Japan, Korea, Ireland, Chile, Canada, Italy, and New Zealand.

The inaugural men’s Hockey Nations Cup was played in South Africa and was won by the home nation. The women’s version was staged in Valencia, Spain, and won by India.

Gniezno previously hosted the Hockey Series Open in 2018 and the EuroHockey Championship II in 2021.
