NOS, the public-service broadcaster in the Netherlands, has retained its rights to broadcast highlights and provide live radio coverage of domestic soccer’s top-tier men’s and women’s Eredivisie after renewing its contract for another five years.

The renewal, running through the 2031-32 season, builds on NOS’ current contract with Eredivisie Media and Marketing arm, which was due to end following the 2026-27 season.

NOS currently provides highlights via its NOS Studio Sport Eredivisie show every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday with summaries and reviews of every game.

The new agreement will see NOS gain broader opportunities to share highlights from the two top leagues, as well as the men’s second-tier Eerste Divisie, quickly and extensively online and via social media.

The public broadcaster will also continue to provide live radio coverage of the leagues via its weekend sports program NOS Langs de Lijn (Along the Lines), which airs on its NPO Radio 1 channel.

Xander van der Wulp, editor-in-chief of NOS Sport, said: “Eredivisie highlights are part of the NOS. Even in times when we have to take a critical look at our expenses, it is important that Dutch football remains accessible to everyone on the public broadcaster.

“The familiar 'dinner on your lap' moment on NPO 1 remains, but with this agreement we also gain more opportunities to reach football fans who follow the Eredivisie in other ways, for example via NPO Start, our app, and social media.

“This way, we can get different generations of football fans excited about the Eredivisie.”

The deal sits alongside Eredivisie’s agreement with telecoms operator KPN, which includes online highlights rights through 2029-30. Under its deal, KPN is also able to provide goal alerts and clips immediately after they are scored, with highlights then available immediately after each game via KPN TV+ and the MijnKPN mobile app.

Live Eredivisie domestic coverage rights are held by ESPN, with that heavyweight sports broadcaster having extended through to 2030 with the soccer league in February 2024.

In terms of NOS’ other top-tier soccer rights, the broadcaster will cover the next men's FIFA World Cup national teams tournament in 2030, as well as next year’s Women’s World Cup as part of its deal with the European Broadcasting Union.
