Matchroom Boxing and Most Valuable Promotions (MVP), two of the foremost promoting vehicles in the sport, have come together in a women's boxing-focused strategic alliance.

Through the deal, both Matchroom – headed up by Barry and Eddie Hearn – and MVP – launched by influencer-turned-boxer Jake Paul – will work together to create major new opportunities for female boxers, both in terms of fights and commercial possibilities.

The long-term partnership will initially focus on Skye Nicholson, the Australian reigning WBC Super Bantamweight world champion (and part of the Matchroom boxing talent stable).

Both parties will collaborate to "continue elevating Nicholson throughout the next phases of her professional career," starting with a bout in Birmingham, England, on August 29, against Japan's Miyo Yoshida.

Matchroom and MVP will, more generally, also look to expand the overall women's boxing audience through "premium events, innovative storytelling, and increased commercial investment."

An aim to grow world championship competition for female boxers has also been noted.

Hearn said: "For a long time, Matchroom has singlehandedly carried the flag for women’s boxing. In recent years, MVP have done an incredible job too. They now have an unprecedented stable of champions and continue to break the boundaries for women’s boxing time and time again.

"For our female fighters … this new alliance is integral, and we are fully committed to working together with MVPW to continue to grow women’s boxing.”

Previously, Matchroom and MVP co-promoted the trio of fights between Katie Taylor (Matchroom) and Amanda Serrano (MVP).

However, there has also been plenty of friction and bad blood between the two organizations previously – including an out-of-court settlement in April 2025 after Paul accused Eddie Hearn of paying a judge.

Paul and Nakisa Bidarian (MPV's other co-founder) added: "Since launching MVPW, our mission has been to create the premier global platform for women’s boxing by bringing together the sport’s biggest champions and delivering the biggest fights.

“Skye shares that vision and ambition, and together we’re excited to help create the defining moments of the next chapter of her career."

In terms of MVP's focus on women's sport, late March saw its MVPW female boxing wing strike a multi-year rights deal with UK and Ireland pay-TV heavyweight Sky.

Sky Sports has thus become the exclusive broadcaster in the UK and Ireland for two all-female UK fight nights per year run by MVPW.

Earlier this month, meanwhile, MVP announced that its upcoming Serrano vs Manzur boxing fight night will be livestreamed on social media platform TikTok in a first for the sport. Indeed, this will be the first championship boxing event to air in partnership with TikTok on the TikTok Live platform.

Taking place on August 21 at the Pechanga Resort and Casino in Temecula, California, US, the fight night will see the unified WBA, WBO, and Ring Magazine women’s featherweight champion Serrano defend her belts against number two-ranked challenger Lucrezia Manzur of Argentina.
