LA will take over from London, with the UK capital set to stage the tournament this year at The O2 arena in late September. Fellow Californian city, San Francisco, provided the home for the 2025 Laver Cup.

Intuit Dome – opened in mid-2024 – is the permanent home of NBA basketball's LA Clippers, and also staged this year's NBA All-Star game in February. At the Los Angeles Summer Olympics in 2028, the venue will host the basketball events.

Outside of basketball, meanwhile, it has hosted action from the World Wrestling Entertainment and Ultimate Fighting Championship promotions.

The Laver Cup first launched in Prague in 2017, and since then, other host cities have included Chicago, Boston, Vancouver, Berlin, and Geneva.

Kathryn Schloessman, the LA Sports & Entertainment Commission's CEO and president, added: "Los Angeles is in the middle of an extraordinary decade of hosting global sporting events, and welcoming the Laver Cup adds another world-class event to that momentum."

The three-day Laver Cup, which forms part of the men’s ATP Tour, pits six of the best men’s players from Europe against six leading players from the rest of the world.

The three highest-ranked players from each region, Europe and the world, based on the ATP singles rankings, receive an automatic invitation to play the Laver Cup.
