FIBA, basketball’s international governing body, has today (November 29) brought international logistics company Kuehne+Nagel on board as a new commercial partner.
The agreement will see the firm serve as the federation’s official global logistics supplier.
Kuehne+Nagel will provide shipment and logistical consulting services for several future FIBA tournaments over the next two years.
This will encompass the 2024 FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournaments for both men and women, the next men’s and women’s FIBA U17 and U19 Basketball World Cups, the FIBA Continental Cup Qualifiers for men, and the men’s and women’s FIBA Continental Cups in 2025.
FIBA said the objective of the tie-up is also to build a long-term partnership and support the governing body “in the enhancement of shipping and logistical operations and also in the important ambition of further increasing sustainability and environmental performance by reducing FIBA's CO2 footprint worldwide.”
Kuehne+Nagel has several sports sponsorships and is currently collaborating with the likes of SailGP, as well as serving as the logistics partner for both Team Germany and Team Great Britain at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
