The San Francisco 49ers NFL franchise has deepened its ties with Doppel, the AI-native cybersecurity platform, by adding the company to its growing slate of commercial partners in a multi-year deal.

The partnership will see San Francisco-based Doppel become the team’s official social engineering defence partner, with the company using its AI platform to protect the organization against social engineering attacks such as phishing, impersonation, deepfakes, and fraud.

As part of the agreement, Doppel will gain brand presence at 49ers home games through digital and physical in-stadium signage at Levi Stadium, and the pair will collaborate on Doppel’s ‘Defend the Bay’ campaign to bring awareness of potential social engineering threats.

Rahul Madduluri, chief technology officer and co-founder of Doppel, said: “We built Doppel to give security teams complete visibility into how attacks develop across every medium.

“AI has made impersonation cheaper, faster, and more convincing to produce. Defending against it requires technology that dismantles malicious infrastructure and responds at machine speed. The 49ers have built their identity around that same disciplined approach to defense, which makes this relationship such a natural fit.”

It is the first NFL agreement for Doppel and builds on the pair’s previous activities, with the 49ers signing up as a client of the company before negotiating an official partnership.

Doppel is also an official partner of the New York Knicks, of North American basketball’s NBA, and has its brand showcased at home games at Madison Square Garden.

The 49ers are one of the most commercially prominent NFL franchises, having reached the postseason playoffs in five of the last seven seasons, including two Super Bowl trips in that time.

Most recently, the team struck a new multi-year extension to its agreement with US Bank, with the financial services firm to remain its official bank partner.

As part of the extension, the bank will now serve as the presenting sponsor of the Levi’s Stadium East Field Club hospitality offering, while 49ers players will wear a US Bank patch on all practice uniforms for the duration of the deal.
