The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has named Chinese technology company Tecno Mobile as an official sponsor of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) national teams tournament.

As part of the agreement, the firm will be the exclusive smartphone partner of the competition being hosted by the Ivory Coast from January 13 to February 11, 2024.

The tournament was originally scheduled to be held this year but was postponed to 2024 due to concerns over the rainy season in Ivory Coast.

Tecno Mobile is the second official sponsor signed up by CAF for the tournament joining betting brand 1XBet. Energy company TotalEnergies is the title sponsor.

CAF president Patrice Motsepe said: "There are discussions underway with several global companies that are very keen to sponsor and partner with CAF for the CAF competitions including the Africa Cup of Nations.

“This relationship with Tecno Mobile will drive African football and CAF into a new and exciting market. Tecno Mobile has a strong footprint on the African continent, and we look forward to building a mutually beneficial partnership.”
