Abu Dhabi-based real estate developer Aldar has expanded its commercial association with golf's top-tier DP World Tour.

Through an agreement yesterday, Aldar becomes the new title sponsor of the 2026 Abu Dhabi Championship, the first of two tournaments that make up the season-ending playoffs for the DP World Tour.

Aldar was already a regular event sponsor, as well as the official real estate partner of the tour (with the latter designation assigned last April).

It is also a specific sponsor of another trio of DP World Tour events – the Porsche Singapore Classic, the Volvo China Open, and the BMW PGA Championship.

The 2026 Abu Dhabi Aldar Championship will be hosted at the Yas Island course between November 5 and 8, and will be put on by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council alongside the DP World Tour. Aldar is a major developer on Yas Island.

Guy Kinnings, the DP World Tour's chief executive, commented: "This is a landmark moment for the Abu Dhabi Championship and for our wider partnership with Aldar. Since joining the DP World Tour family, Aldar has demonstrated a clear commitment to using golf as a platform to showcase Abu Dhabi to a global audience, engage communities and support the growth of our sport."

In terms of recent DP World Tour commercial activity, mid-August saw a major deal with international e-commerce and merchandising giant Fanatics unveiled.

Through a multi-year, multi-aspect tie-up, Fanatics becomes the exclusive retail partner for the 2027 Ryder Cup competition between Team Europe and Team USA (taking place in Limerick, Ireland), as well as for the wider tour.

Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, chair of Aldar, added: "Abu Dhabi has established itself as a global hub for world-class sport, entertainment and experiences. Aldar has been instrumental in shaping Yas Island into one of the region's most sought-after places to live, visit and invest, and becoming title partner of the Abu Dhabi Championship builds naturally on that foundation."

Elsewhere in the world of sports sponsorships, Aldar is also a partner of English Premier League club Manchester City, which is owned by the Abu Dhabi United Group.
