The National Basketball Association’s (NBA) League Pass subscription streaming service will be available on YouTube Primetime Channels in Germany after the league struck a deal with the global video platform.

Through the agreement, YouTube Primetime Channels subscribers in Germany will have access to live and on-demand NBA games and content via NBA League Pass, including regular-season games, the Emirates NBA Cup (previously named the NBA In-Season Tournament), NBA All-Star, the Play-In Tournament, the playoffs, and the NBA Finals.

In addition, YouTube and the NBA will also collaborate to offer more locally relevant basketball content on the wider YouTube platform featuring a variety of German content creators.

Local content creators C-Bas and Kobe Bjoern will also provide live German commentary for select games exclusively on League Pass.

Live NBA games are also available in Germany on commercial broadcaster ProSiebenSat.1 and streaming service DAZN.

Andreas Briese, YouTube’s country director in Germany, said: “I’m excited that basketball fans in Germany can now watch every NBA game live and on-demand on YouTube thanks to our streaming partnership with the NBA, and to further expand our growing offering on YouTube Primetime Channels.

“Basketball has become very popular in this country since our national team won the FIBA World Cup.”

The NBA features several German players who represented their country in that World Cup, including the tournament's MVP Dennis Schroder of the Brooklyn Nets, Franz and Mo Wagner (Orlando Magic), and Daniel Theis (LA Clippers).

Matt Brabants, NBA senior vice president and head of international content partnerships, added: “Collaborating with YouTube Primetime Channels reflects our continued commitment to making the NBA more accessible to our fans in Germany on the devices and platforms they use most.

“With the momentum around basketball in Germany at an all-time high, we look forward to working with YouTube to create more locally relevant content for fans to engage with the NBA.”

The 2023-24 NBA regular season concludes on April 14, followed by the Play-In Tournament (April 16-19), before the playoffs begin on April 20.
