Premier Padel, the elite international tour, has announced a new broadcast deal in the UK market with WBD-owned pay-TV network TNT Sports, ahead of its first-ever event in the market.

More specifically, HBO Max will cover the entirety of the tournament live, with TNT Sports’ quaternary TNT Sports 4 linear channel providing coverage beginning from the round-of-16 (August 6) onwards, including the entirety of the showpiece men’s and women’s finals on August 9.

One of padel’s top-line ‘P1’ tournaments, the event is promoted by multinational events company Sela.

Speaking on the announcement, Trojan Paillot, the vice president for rights, syndication, and commercial development at TNT Sports parent WBD Sports Europe, commented: As a premium multi-sport broadcaster, we have a proven track record of broadening audiences around the widest range of events while elevating coverage through our passionate approach to sports storytelling across our highly scaled channels and platforms”.

Sela chief executive for international business at Sela Stewart Hosford added: “As promoter of London P1, our ambition is to establish this event as one of the standout tournaments in the global Premier Padel calendar. Live broadcast is an important part of that vision, bringing the energy and excitement of Olympia to fans across the UK and Ireland, and helping make this inaugural event a landmark moment for the sport.”

This announcement comes just a day after France-based international sporting goods retailer Decathlon confirmed its support of the London P1, becoming the ‘exclusive’ official retail partner of the event.

Decathlon will organize on-site retailing and official merchandise for the event, as well as in-person activations, meet-and-greets, competitions, and more, facilitated through its padel-focused in-house brand Kuikma.

Hosford added of the Decathlon agreement: “Having a globally recognised sports retailer like Decathlon on board ensures spectators have access to quality equipment and apparel throughout the event, while helping us create a more complete and engaging experience for everyone who joins us at [host venue] Olympia.”
