Spring Productions, the production arm of Spring Media, the Sweden-based international sports media and marketing agency, has been appointed by Nordic Entertainment Group (NENT), the regional media giant, as its production partner for the Damallsvenskan Swedish women’s top-tier soccer league.

Under the deal, which covers the 2022 season, Spring Productions will produce all matches to be aired on NENT’s Viaplay streaming platform and other channels around the world.

It will also “be responsible for supporting the league with general coordination.”

The appointment follows the acquisition by NENT in November last year of broadcast rights to the Damallsvenskan between 2022 and 2026.

Spring Media has worked with the Damallsvenskan – known as the OBOS Damallsvenskan commercially – and its organizer the Swedish Elite Football Dam (EFD) since 2014, providing media rights management and production services. The aim of the partnership, it says, is to “grow the exposure of Swedish women’s football and drive value back to the sport”.

The 2022 season kicked off at the end of March and runs through to November, comprising a total of 126 matches.

Marcus Alm, head of operations at Spring Media, said: “We are looking forward to deepening our relationship with NENT and to further raise the production bar for OBOS Damallsvenskan.

“The productions from the 2022 season are important in the continued growth of Spring Productions in Sweden, adding 130 matches of multi-camera remote productions to our schedule, which now contains over 1000 domestic events per year.”

Joakim Ekstrand, head of on-site production at NENT Sport Nordic, added: “We are extremely pleased to finally have kickstarted our broadcasts of OBOS Damallsvenskan. We look forward to an intriguing season where viewers can enjoy all matches on Viaplay and up to two matches per week on TV6.

“In collaboration with Spring Media, who will be spearheading production of our Viaplay matches, we have raised the bar for our productions and hope the viewer will enjoy an even better experience than before.”
