Sportradar, the international sports data and digital content services provider, has today unveiled an expanded content and data partnership with NBC’s Sports Regional Networks division.
Sportradar will provide the US-based broadcaster’s regional networks with “a comprehensive range of solutions and offerings” from its Broadcast Services wing, to enhance in-game coverage.
This deal builds and expands on the current partnership between Sportradar and NBC Sports Regional Networks, which covers betting-based data and content.
In having greater access to Sportradar’s data and statistics packages, the regional networks will now be able to put data updates on-screen faster, and will also have the ability to use additional, complimentary, graphics.
The additional data will allow the regional networks to “track deeper and more insightful storylines throughout the course of a game," Sportradar has said.
Brian Josephs, vice-president of digital sport at Sportradar, said: “NBC Sports Regional Networks are iconic and have shaped the way that fans watch teams and athletes. Our technology platform and 360-degree approach enable them to tap into a number of our capabilities and will give them the flexibility they need.”

By GlobalDataJon Slobotkin, senior vice-president of content and live programming for NBC Sports Regional Networks, added: “Advanced data is a significant component of [our] efforts, and Sportradar delivers the services and capabilities we need to best serve fans and meet their evolving preferences for how they consume content.”
Sportradar already provides specialised data packages for several US sports leagues, including MLB Statcast and NBA Advanced Stats in baseball and basketball respectively.
Earlier this week, Sportradar agreed to buy InteractSport, an Australian data and technology firm with particular experience in cricket.
The acquisition, subject to the usual regulatory approvals, is expected to close in the second quarter of 2021.
Sportradar said the acquisition will “combine [our] leading commercialisation and distribution framework with InteractSport’s products, content creation capabilities and subject matter expertise".
That was Sportradar’s third acquisition of 2021, as in March, the firm acquired both Synergy Sports, a US-based technology solutions provider, and Fresh Eight Ltd, which operates a personalised message platform in the betting and gambling sector.
