Sky Italia, the pay-television broadcaster, has acquired rights in the country to motor racing’s World Rally Championship (WRC) for the upcoming season.
The agreement was struck with WRC Promoter, the vehicle that has owned and controlled the championship’s commercial rights since January 2021.
Sky will provide live coverage of all 13 rounds from the championship on its Sky Sport Action channel. The pay-TV operator will also air highlights and magazine shows.
The opening round of the 2022 season takes place in Monte Carlo from January 20 to 23. The campaign will conclude in Japan from November 10 to 13.
The WRC adds to the motorsports content on Sky Sport Action which already features the European Rally Championship and the World Rallycross Championship.
WRC Promoter has secured multiple deals for the championship in recent months including extensions with BT Sport in the UK, Canal Plus in France, and Cosmote in Greece.
