UK and Irish pay-TV giant Sky has announced a new multi-year partnership with the men’s national soccer team of the Republic of Ireland, as well as the extension of its existing deal covering the women’s national side.

Sky will now serve as the primary partner of the men’s and women’s national teams through 2028, with its branding present in the primary front-of-shirt sponsorship slot on all matchday kits.

The broadcast heavyweight first partnered with Ireland's national women’s team in September 2021, becoming its first-ever standalone primary partner and marking the first-ever major sports partnership for Sky in that country.

Courtesy of the new men’s partnership and the extended women’s tie-up, Sky will cover the two teams through the qualifying campaigns and potentially the tournaments proper of the UEFA women's European Championships in 2025 and the men’s European Championships in 2028, as well as the 2026 men’s FIFA World Cup and 2027 FIFA women's World Cup.

Ireland’s women’s team qualified for the FIFA World Cup for the first time in 2023, and its men’s team could be guaranteed qualification to the 2028 European Championships as one of the host nations, indicating the strength of the teams and visibility that Sky will look to gain.

Speaking about the partnership, Sky Ireland's chief executive JD Buckley stated: "As primary partner across both teams for the next four years, we now have the opportunity to build on what we have achieved, support our national teams and work with the FAI to ensure future opportunities for young players."

Jonathan Hill, the chief executive of Irish soccer governing body the FAI added: “Sky is clearly synonymous with sport and with football. It is a great brand and business in its own right, and the team at Sky are committed to working with us to proactively promote both of our senior teams over the coming years, so they are a perfect partner for us as an Association."
