Sky, the pay-television operator, achieved record daily viewing figures for its Sky Sports channels in the UK this past weekend thanks to its coverage of English soccer’s Premier League, motor racing’s Formula 1 and cricket’s ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
An average of 1.2 million viewers tuned in to Sky Sports channels in the UK between 6am on 24 October and 2am on 25 October, with a reach of over 8 million.
Viewership peaked at 4.5 million viewers on Sunday, headlined by Liverpool’s 5-0 win over rivals Manchester United in the Premier League and the T20 World Cup match between India vs Pakistan.
Sky viewers also tuned in for Formula 1’s US Grand Prix in Austin, Texas, as Max Verstappen claimed victory in his battle with Lewis Hamilton for the world championship.
The broadcaster said its coverage of boxing and American football’s NFL also contributed to the audience figures.
