Sports-focused streaming service Fubo TV has announced a new carriage deal with the Mid-Atlantic Sports Network (MASN) regional sports network (RSN) that will allow Fubo to expand its coverage of the Baltimore Orioles and Washington Nationals franchises of baseball’s MLB.

The deal will see over-the-top (OTT) Fubo TV stream the RSN’s coverage of all available Orioles and Nationals games through the 2024 MLB season, which begins on March 28.

Fubo will also showcase MASN-produced pre and post-game coverage for each fixture, alongside MASN’s slate of NCAA Division 1 collegiate sports fixtures.

Content from MASN, which is jointly owned by the Orioles and Nationals, will be available through Fubo TV in the seven US states surrounding Maryland and the District of Columbia that the broadcaster itself covers.

Todd Mathers, Fubo senior vice president for content strategy and acquisition stated: “Fubo is proud to be the home for local sports and the addition of MASN will bring Baltimore Orioles and Washington Nationals fans even more access to their favorite teams for the 2024 MLB season.

“We look forward to expanding baseball coverage across the mid-Atlantic region with Fubo’s leading MLB offering.”

The deal is a major boon for MASN, with the RSN having experienced carriage troubles over recent months.

Earlier in March the RSN ended its dispute with US nationwide cable TV carrier Comcast, narrowly avoiding a TV blackout from comcast services.

Although it ensured it will remain available via Comcast, MASN through the deal was moved to a more expensive tv package, maintaining its income but reducing its reach.

The new Fubo partnership however goes some way to widening its potential audience again, with MASN senior vice president John McGuinness stating: “MASN is excited to partner with Fubo and provide Orioles and Nationals fans with an exciting new option to connect with their favorite teams throughout our seven-state television territory.

“Fubo has become a leading sports media platform and this new partnership will deliver O’s and Nats baseball to a significant new audience.”
