The International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) has today unveiled a pay-per-view (PPV) live-streaming platform.

The over-the-top (OTT) platform has been developed alongside Spring Media, the Swedish sports marketing agency, and StayLive, the hosting platform owned by Spring Media. It will be available “in selected territories” and will allow fans of artistic, rhythmic, and trampoline gymnastics to watch the finals of the various World Cup and World Challenge Cup events in those disciplines across 2024.

It is likely that the platform will be used to stream action in markets without existing broadcast deals in place for the aforementioned events.

The platform is currently available through figtv.sport, with coverage unavailable in the host countries of the events mentioned above. Fans will be able to either watch via a season pass, or buying access to a single event.

The FIG becomes the latest international sports federation to launch its own OTT platform, following in the footsteps of numerous others, including the governing bodies of soccer, cricket, rugby, and tennis.

The 2024 World Cup season begins today with the Apparatus World Cup in Cairo, Egypt. Multiple tournaments across the artistic, rhythmic, and trampoline gymnastic seasons also count as qualification events for the sport at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Global distribution rights to events across the FIG World Cup Series in 2024 are held by Dentsu, the Japanese advertising and marketing giant.

Spring Media, meanwhile, has a production tie-up in place with the FIG running through 2024.

Morinari Watanabe, the president of the FIG, has said: “I'm delighted that we have been able to make this live streaming service available with the support of Dentsu, the worldwide rightsholder for the FIG World Cup series. The most frequent question we hear from our fans is 'Where can I watch this live?'. The launch of this new service just in time for the Olympic year shows that we have listened.”
