The 20th meeting between LA Galaxy and Los Angeles FC (LAFC) in North American soccer’s MLS broke the single-game attendance record for the competition with a crowd of more than 82,000 at the Rose Bowl.
The match, which took place yesterday (July 4), was won 2-1 by LA Galaxy who were the designated 'home' team for the clash dubbed as 'El Trafico'.

The encounter between the Los Angeles-based sides attracted 82,110 fans at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California which was chosen as a neutral venue to secure a huge attendance.
Charlotte FC held the previous attendance record, with 74,479 fans attending the club’s first-ever home match at the Bank of America Stadium in 2022.
The Rose Bowl is the 16th largest stadium in the world, with a capacity of 92,542. LA Galaxy normally play at the Dignity Health Sports Park and LAFC at the BMO Stadium.
The match had been delayed from the start of the season due to a postponement as a result of inclement weather. Despite the win, LA Galaxy remain 13th in the MLS Western Conference and in danger of missing the playoffs this season, while LAFC are third.
