The governing body of the Czech Republic’s top-tier men’s soccer league, the LFA, has launched a domestic media rights tender for the next five-year cycle.

The tender covers the 2024-25 to 2028-29 seasons of the top-flight Fortuna Liga and of the second-tier Fortuna National League, as well as betting streaming rights to the Fortuna.

The LFA has now initiated an expression of interest phase, open to broadcasters and agencies, with Fortuna Liga rights set to cover both the Czech Republic and Slovakia, while the betting streaming package will only be available domestically.

The initial bid deadline is September 25, with a second round deadline in early October – although the league will close the process after round one if bids at that point are already satisfactory.

The league will either allocate all eight matches per round exclusively to one broadcaster or split them equally between four top-pick games and another quartet.

The successful applicant will be expected to provide a Video Assistant Referee (VAR) system for each match.

Pay-TV broadcaster O2 currently holds domestic rights to the Fortuna Liga, through a deal ending at the conclusion of 2023-24.

The Pragosport agency, meanwhile, currently holds global rights – and then sold the domestic set onto O2 in 2021.

Before that, domestic coverage was available via the public-service broadcaster Czech TV.

International broadcast rights for the next cycle, meanwhile, will go to tender later this year, the LFA has said.
