US broadcaster NBC Sports has announced a deal with UK boxing promoter Boxxer to showcase its events.

Boxxer events will now stream in the US exclusively on NBC’s Peacock streaming service, with certain bouts also to appear on the linear NBC TV channel.

The partnership will begin on October 21 (Saturday) with Boxxer’s fight night at the O2 Arena in London, with a main draw that sees Joshua Buatsi take on Dan Azeez.

Media conglomerate Comcast, owner of NBC, also owns UK broadcaster Sky which is an official partner of Boxxer, and the producer and exclusive broadcaster of its events.

Boxxer's founder and chief executive Ben Shalom said: “We’re delighted to announce this landmark partnership with NBC Sports, in what is a major moment for the company, allowing audiences across the USA to watch our stars in action throughout the year.

Shalom continued: “NBC Sports reaches millions of fans every day, providing an incredible platform Stateside for BOXXER and our elite roster.

"We look forward to kickstarting the partnership with a huge show on 21st October, as Joshua Buatsi and Dan Azeez put it all on the line at The O2 in London.”

The NBC deal marks the latest move by Boxxer to expand and consolidate its global broadcast reach outside of the UK.

In March 2023, the promoter extended its deal to exclusively stream its events in four countries on the subscription streaming service Mola.

The renewal extended Mola’s rights to cover Boxxer action across Italy, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore.

Boxxer also agreed to a media rights distribution deal with rights and marketing agency Protocol Sports Marketing in February, that will see the firm market Boxxer’s media rights in territories such as South America, East Asia, and Sub-Saharan Africa.
