Bauer will become the new sports director of the ‘ran’ streaming service. (Seven.One Entertainment Group)

Gernot Bauer is leaving his position as head of sport at Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) Germany, an arm of the multinational media and entertainment giant, to join commercial broadcaster ProSiebenSat.1.

He will become the new sports director of the ‘ran’ streaming service and replace Alexander Rösner, who moved to pay-TV giant Sky Deutschland earlier this month (September).

Bauer will also serve as senior vice president of Seven.One, ProSiebenSat.1’s rights buying agency.

The 47-year-old will officially begin his new role on November 1. He will head up the editorial, production, and sports rights departments and will be responsible for all sports content across platforms. 

Bauer has been head of sports at Warner Bros. Discovery since 2017. He also previously worked as chief reporter for Sky Deutschland and deputy editor-in-chief at Eurosport where he was responsible for the production of several major sporting events such as the Winter Olympics and cycling’s Tour de France.
