Italian soccer’s Serie A has launched a tender process for media rights for the sports betting sector, data for sports betting and media sectors and data sponsor rights for a three-year period from 2021-22 to 2023-24.
The league is inviting bids for multiple packages with offers to be submitted from 10am (CEST) on 19 July, with a deadline of 10am on 22 July.
Serie A is seeking offers for seven packages in total, with interested parties able to bid for a single package or for several.
The packages cover the Italian top-flight, the Coppa Italia knockout cups competition and the Supercoppa, the annual fixture contested by the league and cup winners.
The packages on offer are:
- Package A. – Sports Betting International Package: including media rights and data of matches for sports betting sector and available for the international territory;
- Package B. – Sports Betting Italy Package: including data of matches for sports betting sector and available for the Italian territory;
- Package C. – Media Data Package: including data of matches for media sector and available for the global territory;
- Package D. – Football Virtual Coach Data Package: including the Football Virtual Coach data for sports betting and media sectors and available for the global territory;
- Package E. – LNPA Data Sponsor Package: including the right to commercialize the role of Lega Serie A data sponsor and available for the global territory;
- Package F. – Sports Betting Package: aggregation of Packages A. and B.
- Package G. – Sports Betting Plus Package: aggregation of Packages A. B. C. D. and E.
Tender documents will be available for interested parties in the ‘Documents’ section of Serie A’s website.
IMG, the international sports and entertainment agency, held international rights to Serie A and the Coppa Italia in the 2018-19 to 2020-21 cycle, paying around €361 million per year, which included betting rights.
In April, Serie A awarded the Infront agency a three-year contract to distribute its international rights in a deal valued at a total of €417 million from 2021-22 to 2023-24, in all territories bar the USA and the Middle East and North Africa.
