XB Net secures international remit for distribution of New York racing
XB Net, the US broadcasting and streaming services company, has expanded its tie-up with the New York Racing Association to distribute international coverage of horse racing events held in the state.
Under the “long-term deal,” XB Net, a subsidiary of 1/ST Technology, will handle content rights, data, betting odds and signals from various major racecourses, including Belmont Park, Aqueduct and Saratoga.
In all, the company will distribute coverage of more than 1,000 days of racing each year from 18 tracks, with exclusive rights for the UK and Ireland, continental Europe, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Africa.
The deal builds on XB Net’s extensive involvement in US horse racing, which includes handling content and betting services at Gulfstream Park, Santa Anita Park, Golden Gate Fields, Laurel Park and Pimlico Race Course, all owned by its ultimate parent company The Stronach Group, the prominent North American horse racing and betting company.
Its programming has been available in the UK via pay-television operator Sky and its At The Races digital channels in recent months while there has been a shortage of live sport due to the coronavirus pandemic.
XB Net also claimed record engagement levels for June’s Belmont Stakes, part of US horse racing’s prestigious triple crown.
The company now provides live coverage, data and betting services from 50 North American tracks, and accounts for 90 per cent of US horse racing action.
Simon Fraser, senior vice-president of international at XB Net, said: “It’s great to see NYRA and the 1/ST RACING racetracks working in unison to return value back to North American racing in these challenging times. Securing this long-term collaboration confirms XB Net’s commitment to the sport and our wider status as the leading international provider of North American racing. This deal is a ringing endorsement of our business model and the combined diligence of our multi-faceted team.”
Tony Allevato, NYRA chief revenue officer and president of NYRA Bets, added: “NYRA is pleased to expand our partnership with XB Net to further broaden the international reach of North American thoroughbred racing. Sports fans and bettors around the world can look forward to even more coverage of top quality racing from the best venues in the United States.”
