Lagardère renews VTB United League media sales role to 2022
Lagardère Sports, the sports marketing agency of the France-based media giant, has renewed its exclusive international broadcast remit for basketball's VTB United League, the top-tier competition made up mainly of Russian teams.
Lagardère first came on board ahead of the 2016-17 season, and has now renewed its contract to 2021-22.
The agency's multi-platform agreement covers all territories, with the exception of the six participating countries - Russia, Poland, Belarus, Estonia, Latvia and Kazakhstan.
It was able to sell the rights in Poland in the previous cycle, but the country has been carved out of this contract following the addition of Zielona Gora to the league in 2018-19.
Match TV, the sports broadcaster backed by Gazprom Media, holds rights to the VTB United League in Russia, where nine of the 14 teams are based, in a three-year deal that expires this season.
International rights to the league were previously distributed by UFA Sports, the Hamburg-based agency acquired by Lagardère Sports in 2015 and rebranded as U! Sports.
