Dell in four-year deal to continue to sponsor Dell Technologies Match Play
Dell Technologies, the USA-based computer manufacturer, has signed a four-year agreement to continue its sponsorship of the World Golf Championships-Dell Technologies Match Play in Austin, Texas.
Dell signed an initial four-year deal with USA’s PGA Tour and the International Federation of PGA Tours in 2016 to title sponsor the World Golf Championships-Match Play tournament, marking its first commercial move into golf.
Jay Monahan, the PGA Tour commissioner, said: “Dell Technologies’ sponsorship and the move to Austin Country Club in 2016 have really helped spur the growth of the Dell Technologies Match Play. Michael Dell and his team took great pride in bringing the event to their hometown and have put their time and energy into making it the success it is today.
“Austin Country Club’s membership has been very supportive, as well, and we couldn’t have asked for a more ideal setting or golf course better suited for match play competition. We’re very excited that this partnership will continue for another four years.”
This year’s Dell Technologies Match Play begins today at Austin Country Club, with Bubba Watson opening his title defence.
The Dell Technologies Match Play is the third of four World Golf Championships events on the 2018-19 PGA Tour schedule sanctioned and organised by the International Federation of PGA Tours. The other are the Mexico Championship (Mexico City, Mexico), the FedEx St. Jude Invitational (Memphis, Tennessee) and the HSBC Champions (Shanghai, China).
Dell also has major sports sponsorship experience in motor racing’s Formula 1 and sailing’s America’s Cup.
