YouTube TV prolongs World Series sponsorship and adds MLB Network
YouTube TV, the subscription service of the Google-owned video platform, will offer MLB Network on its platform for the first time after expanding its deal with Major League Baseball.
Under the renewal announced today, YouTube TV is to continue as the presenting sponsor of the season-ending World Series for 2018 and 2019.
In October last year, YouTube TV became the first-ever presenting sponsor of the showpiece in a deal intended to drive awareness for the recently-launched platform.
MLB Network will be available on YouTube TV from today.
YouTube TV costs $35 a month, and is presently only available in USA.
The deal also entails a new season-long sponsorship that will feature the YouTube TV brand in the first pitches of games on MLB Network and MLB.tv, the online streaming service.
There will also be national TV commercials and on-air call-outs during games, plus branding across MLB’s digital properties.
Angela Courtin, global head of YouTube TV
and originals marketing, said: “From live programming morphing into a YouTube
TV spot, to prominent in-stadium placements, our innovative partnership allowed
us to build awareness for YouTube TV and have a voice during one of the biggest
live sporting events of the year.”
