PGA of America in line for Texas move
The PGA of America, the US body for golf professionals and the organiser of the US PGA Championship, one of the sport's four annual majors, is reported to be looking to relocate its headquarters from West Palm Beach in Florida to Frisco in Texas.
The proposed site, located just outside Dallas, would also be home to two 18-hole semi-public courses, to be designed by Gil Hanse and Beau Welling, with the Hanse course anticipated to host events like the PGA Championship and Ryder Cup, according to Golf.com.
The championship venue would be expected to open by 2020.
The PGA of America has been based in West Palm Beach since 1965.
In recent years, Frisco has become home to NFL American football's Dallas Cowboys' new headquarters and practice facilities, NHL ice hockey's Dallas Stars' headquarters and Major League Soccer's FC Dallas.
The schedule for the PGA Championship, which is moving to a May date from August next year, is set through 2024, while the next opening on the US Ryder Cup hosting schedule is in 2028.
