USA to stage squash’s World Team Championship for first time
Washington DC in USA is to host squash’s Men's World Team Championship in 2019, the World Squash Federation has announced.
It will be the first time in the history of the biennial event that it will be staged in USA.
The tournament will be organised by US Squash and take place at the new ‘Squash on Fire’ facility in DC.
Jacques Fontaine, president of the WSF, commented: “The United States is a very strong and growing squash nation, so it is very fitting that they have the opportunity to host this Championship. I am sure that the visiting teams will have a great experience at the venues and the American capital generally."
Since its inaugural edition in Australia in 1967, the World Team Championship has been held in 12 different countries.
This year’s event takes place in Marseille, France from 27 November to 3 December.
