The extension comes soon after the 2026 US Open, which is claimed to have delivered record engagement for its IBM-powered digital platforms, reaching more than 270 million total engagements across the tournament’s website and app combined.

IBM will continue to service the USTA’s digital platforms through hybrid cloud and AI technologies.

The tech heavyweight has had a partnership with the USTA for over three decades, which included the launch of the US Open website in 1995 and the event’s mobile app in 2009.

Kameryn Stanhouse, IBM vice president of sports and entertainment partnerships, said: “For 35 years, IBM and the USTA have worked together to redefine how technology can bring fans closer to the game.

“This renewal builds on that legacy, bringing IBM technology to the next generation of the US Open fan experience. It’s also a powerful example of what’s possible when organizations turn complex data into meaningful experiences that create more value for their audiences.”

Brian Ryerson, USTA senior director of digital strategy, added: “Our partnership with IBM has produced decades of groundbreaking innovation for the US Open and for our fans.

“Every year we utilize cutting-edge technology to not only push the boundaries of digital engagement but to provide our fans the most useful and interesting ways to connect with our sport.”

Earlier this year, IBM also extended its long-standing partnership with the All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC), organizer of the Wimbledon Grand Slam.

Together, the pair will continue to collaborate on fan engagement initiatives, including the increased provision of match data.

IBM has been a partner of the AELTC since 1990.
