Puls 4, the linear channel of Austrian commercial network ProSiebenSat.1, has expanded its tennis offering after securing a four-year rights package for the Australian Open Grand Slam tennis tournament.

The rights come via a sub-licensing deal with the country’s rights holder, media giant Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD), and see Puls 4 secure the free-to-air package in Austria, comprising two matches per day, as well as one semifinal each from the men’s and women’s singles and both singles finals.

Coverage will air on Puls 4 and ProSiebenSat.1’s streaming service Joyn for the 2027 to 2030 editions.

The Australian Open is the first Grand Slam on the annual tennis calendar, with the 2027 edition to run from January 11 to 31 at Melbourne Park.

WBD holds pan-European rights for the Australian Open through 2031.

ProSieben Sat.1 takes the FTA package from Servus TV, the free-to-air television channel owned by Austrian energy drink giant Red Bull, which sub-licensed the rights from WBD from 2023 to 2026

The new agreement adds to ProSiebenSat.1’s sports offering, which includes rights to the recently completed US Open Grand Slam, highlights and live match packages for European soccer’s top-tier UEFA Champions League, second-tier Europa League, and third-tier Conference League across the 2024 to 2027 cycle.

The broadcaster also airs selected live matches from domestic soccer’s OFB Cup competition across Puls 4 and Joyn, the National Football League, and ice hockey’s NHL.

For Australian Open organizers Tennis Australia, the new agreement expands the tournament's visibility, having locked in its major broadcast partners globally.

As well as a pan-European deal with WBD, Tennis Australia has a deal with international sports broadcaster BeIN Sports to show the tournament in the Middle East and North Africa through 2029, having last renewed ahead of the 2025 edition.

Late last year, Sony Pictures Network, the Indian pay-TV broadcaster, extended its exclusive rights for the Australian Open covering the 2026 to 2028 editions.

Domestically, commercial broadcaster Nine Network has a five-year deal in place covering the 2025 to 2029 editions.
