Following a successful deal at the tail end of the 2025-26 campaign, UK public-service network BBC will once again show Italian Serie A action across the 2026-27 season, with its coverage focusing on the Scottish audience.

The BBC has committed to one match per gameweek across the 38-game season.

Of that number, half (19 games) will be broadcast live on the Gaelic-language BBC Alba linear channel, while the other 19 will be streamed with English commentary on the BBC iPlayer streaming service and the BBC Sport digital platform (BBC Alba games will also be streamed on iPlayer).

Sunset+Vine, the prominent production company, will also produce BBC shoulder content and ancillary programming such as documentary shows around the Serie A slate.

Also included in the deal are rights for digital clips for use on social media and digital content, supplementing the BBC’s coverage.

The rights slate will begin with the August 23 matchup between Atalanta and Sassuolo.

These rights are being split with incumbent UK Serie A rights holders DAZN and TNT Sports.

DAZN’s UK rights deal for Serie A began ahead of the 2025-26 season, covering all 10 matches per gameweek, eight of which are on an exclusive basis.

The other two non-exclusive games each week are shown by Serie A’s other rights holder in the country, pay-TV broadcaster TNT Sports.

This deal follows on from the BBC sublicensing a similar 8-game slate of Serie A games from DAZN in the back half of the 2025-26 season.

Those seven Scots are: Billy Gilmour and Scott McTominay (both Napoli), Lewis Ferguson (Bologna), Che Adams (Torino), Lennon Miller (Udinese), and Josh Doig and Kieron Bowie (both Sassuolo).

Additionally, a growing number of English players, currently 15, also compete in Serie A, including national team stars Djed Spence and John Stones, who have both signed for reigning champions Inter Milan over the summer transfer window (and will reportedly soon be joined by another in Curtis Jones).

Other prominent English players in the league include AC Milan pair Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Fikayo Tomori, new Como 1907 defender Trevoh Chalobah, Juventus’ Lloyd Kelly, Bologna winger Jonathan Rowe, and Genoa full-back Brooke Norton-Cuffy.
