The.Team, the international sports agency formerly known as Wasserman, has been appointed by US soccer franchise Angel City FC to secure a new front-of-kit sponsor and sell naming rights to its performance center.

Under the agreement, The.Team’s women-focused impact and advisory division, the Rights Sales group, will lead the sales process for ACFC’s next front-of-kit partner to replace food delivery service DoorDash, whose five-year contract expired at the end of the 2026 National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) season.

The sales process marks the end of an era for ACFC, having featured DoorDash’s logo on the front of the team’s kits since its debut season.

The agency said it will create a bespoke commercial narrative around the club’s fanbase, cultural relevance, market footprint in Los Angeles, and global influence to attract a new sponsor.

The company will also manage the sale of naming rights to ACFC’s performance center in Thousand Oaks, California, the latest facility dedicated solely to an NWSL club.

Alex Mallen, ACFC senior director of corporate partnerships, said: “As we evaluated the right partner to represent Angel City FC in the marketplace, The.Team distinguished itself through its long-standing commitment to women’s sport and its proven track record of delivering transformative commercial partnerships.

“The pedigree and legacy of The Collective, combined with the Right Sales team’s history of setting new global sales benchmarks, gave us confidence that they were the ideal partner to bring our most valuable commercial assets to market in a way that reflects the ambition, values, and long-term vision of our club.”

Led by majority owners Willow Bay and Bob Iger and co-owned by actor Natalie Portman, tech entrepreneur July Uhrman, and venture capitalist Kara Nortman, Angel City FC is one of the most commercially successful franchises in the NWSL, valued at $380 million.

As part of its partnership model, 10% of the club's sponsorship revenue gets reinvested in community causes.

Chris Foy, managing director & executive vice president of rights sales, North America at The.Team, said: “Championing and accelerating the growth of women’s sport has been a core focus for The·Team for many years, and it is a privilege to partner with a market-leading organization such as ACFC.

“The front-of-kit sponsorship represents one of the most visible and impactful platforms in global sport today and an opportunity for a brand to align with a club that embodies ambition, purpose, and cultural relevance. We look forward to identifying a partner that shares Angel City’s vision.”

The partnership builds on The.Team’s portfolio of sports clients, having most recently been appointed by Breeders’ Cup Limited to provide commercial support for the annual US-based thoroughbred event.

Other clients include motor racing’s Formula 1 (F1), the WTA tennis tour, and the Association of Volleyball Professionals.
